Kim Barrera, MSW
Kimberly Barrera is a graduate student in the School of Social Work at UNC Charlotte. She graduated from NC State with her BSW degree where she was involved as a mentor in various organizations including the Honors Program and Chancellor’s Leadership Development Program. She has experience working as a tutor for students and interning at a children’s museum and daycare. Her placement is at the Community Free Clinic where she will be working with low income and uninsured individuals. The IBH Program is something she believes is important to provide patients an equal focus on their mental health and understand how it affects their medical care. She wants to bring attention to this at her placement where she will be working with marginalized populations and provide equitable mental health services. She is interested in getting her LCSW after graduation and working with youth and mental health, especially in rural areas where services are needed.
